For over 40 years, Mr. Gissen has founded and helped develop nonprofit organizations devoted to youth. One of the organizations he founded in Wisconsin and Mississippi, Project Self-Help and Awareness (PSA), for over 40 years brought over 3,000 African-American children from Mississippi to Wisconsin to live with families for the summer. He also founded a reading program, Book Buddies, operated by San Francisco's Temple Emanuel in five San Francisco inner city elementary schools. He founded Touché, an inner city fencing program, operating in three San Francisco middle schools. He sponsored a program for San Francisco School Volunteers and served as a San Francisco Principal for a day for three years in a row. In addition to his community outreach experience, Mr. Gissen brings seasoned business and legal qualifications to his role as director. He is a Registered Investment Advisor and is President of the investment advisory and money management firm, Malcolm H. Gissen & Associates Inc., which he founded over 25 years ago. In his previous legal career, Mr. Gissen was General Counsel to a large San Francisco real estate investment and management company and ran a real estate and business law firm in Wisconsin. Mr. Gissen holds a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a B.S. from Case Western Reserve University where he was awarded the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award for his years of significant contributions and service to the community.
